Updated: Scottsdale hit-and-run victim identified

Update: Scottsdale hit-and-run accident victim has been identified as 81-year-old Alabama resident, Sloan Jackson Harper.

A hit-and-run accident leaves one man dead while crossing Hayden Road in Scottsdale with his son on Sunday, March 13, according to officials.

At 10:20 p.m. a male subject, 80, was walking southbound on the west side of Hayden Road with his adult son, according to police. The male subject and his son decided to cross to the east side of Hayden Road approximately 200 yards north of Camelback Road.

While crossing the northbound lanes, the 80-year-old man was struck by a silver Toyota Prius sedan that fled the scene, stated police officials. The victim died at the scene.

A short time later, the Toyota Prius was found parked in the area of Mariposa and Granite Reef Roads. The Toyota Prius had significant damage as a result of the collision and the driver was nowhere to be found, according to officials.

The northbound lanes of Hayden Road are closed at Camelback Road while detectives investigate the collision scene.

The investigation is on-going at this time, stated officials.
