Scottsdale City Council Tuesday, July 6 approved by 6-1 vote a contract with Scottsdale Polo Championship, LLC to produce the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championship at WestWorld of Scottsdale later this year.

The event will be held on Oct. 24. The contract is a one-year agreement and will bring the polo championships to Scottsdale for a fifth year, according to a July 2 city council report.

The 2015 contract requires a credit invoice on 5 percent of gross sales for food and 15 percent for alcohol. The city council report also states a parking arrangement of $2.50 per ticket sold to be provided by the LLC to WestWorld in two payments — the first occurring on the Monday prior to the event and the second within the week after the event.

The contract also listed items that would not be allowed in the event, including fireworks, vending machines and arcade games.

The estimated attendance for the event is over 5,000 and the Scottsdale Police Department and City Traffic Department will work with WestWorld to create a city-approved plan for parking and traffic.
