Royse Contemporary in Old Town Scottsdale presents You Are Art, the solo exhibition of Gennaro Garcia.

The exhibit will kick-off with an artist reception, 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, coinciding with the monthly Gold Palette “Demonstrate” ArtWalk.

You Are Art has been the artist’s motto since 2018, “when in times where it looks as though hate is winning in our culture, I prefer to see the beauty around, everything and everyone inspires me in my art.”

Mr. Garcia is a seasoned artist, advocate, and chef who has melded together all of his passions, living his best life, according to a press release. He creates vivid multi-media work that is engaging and beautiful, showcasing the artist’s distinctive style and love of his countries.

His process is something that one just doesn’t see done today “utilizing a combination of Italian techniques from working with oils, acrylics, wood, plaster blended with a vibrant color palette from his childhood growing up in Mexico,” Mr. Garcia says.

He has created a powerful body of work paintings and sculptures that are peppered with religious references and his heritage, while blending old and new world.

“Art is addictive and therapeutic, it is the best way to communicate the way I feel, think, love,” Mr. Garcia said in a prepared statement.

You Are Art showcases the artist’s latest collection of work incorporating and exploring various mediums including painting, prints, ceramics, and sculpture. The artist says his passion, as an artist is to “create art in every single technique, style, color and texture.”

Mr. Garcia has extensively exhibited his artwork in more than 80 exhibitions in the last five years, and his work is featured in 10 galleries in U.S. and Mexico.

“His artwork is infused with familiar imagery and subjects inspired by both Mexican and American identities, religious references and his heritage,” said Nicole Royse, owner/curator of Royse Contemporary.

In early 2018 Mr. Garcia partnered with Aaron Chamberlin to open Taco Chelo in Downtown Phoenix, highlighting the traditions of Mexican food and his artwork. To date he has handled the interior design of seven restaurants, featuring his art and furniture design including Taco Chelo and Chamberlin’s newest restaurant Ghost Ranch.

Mr. Garcia just finished a permanent art installation at two different wineries in Mexico, as well as installing a large collection of his artwork at Talavera at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale. For the last two year’s Mr. Garcia has had the pleasure of working with Disney, being invited to speak about his life as an artist and to create a mural with his daughter in Mexico.

Lastly he is set to open a gallery in Valle De Guadalupe, Mexico next summer.
