Opinion: Let’s keep abortion out of political discussion

Abortion should not be a political issue.

Unfortunately, many self-proclaimed “conservatives” continue to try to make it a political issue due to their particular religious beliefs.  Their objective is to get government at all levels to make abortions illegal.

Abortion is a religious issue, and it is also a medical issue . But religious and medical issues should be kept out of the public arena.

No one, but especially conservatives, should ever try to misuse government to enforce particular religious beliefs onto the general population.

So-called conservative politicians and preachers need to be consistent.  Conservatives are supposed to believe in minimum government and maximum personal liberty.  In trying to make abortion a political issue, these “conservatives” are being anything but conservative.

It’s time for America to move on. Conservative politicians and preachers need to stop trying to make the religious and medical issue of abortion into a political issue.
