Campana: Civility will return to Scottsdale as community evolves

First and foremost, we’re all Americans and making your opponent or the press the enemy is counter to what this country has been about” — John McCain.

As a former mayor, I’d like to say the same, “first and foremost, we all live in and love Scottsdale. Making your opponent the enemy is counter to what this community is all about.”

Sam Campana

Warm thanks to all who came out to vote. Congratulations to Linda, Kathy and Solange. And thank you, David Smith, for your immense service both as a councilman and Charter officer.

We used to say that those who did not vote were happy with the status quo. I’m not certain I — or Sen. McCain — would still subscribe to that, but we do enjoy an enviable quality of life in Scottsdale. I know it will include civility again.

We are too wonderful a community not to have that happen.
