Manross: Solange Whitehead has my vote for Scottsdale City Council

Solange Whitehead will be a “breath of fresh air” on Scottsdale City Council.

Mary Manross

Her campaign to bring community priorities back to City Hall has received a groundswell of grassroot support from voters citywide. Residents are yearning for a city government which, once again, better represents their interests and concerns.

Solange will work to get our city finances back on track, address the serious deficiencies in our infrastructure, pass a General Plan, which has the confidence and support of the community, advocate for quality, thoughtful development and make sure that our McDowell Sonoran Preserve remains a “Preserve.”

As Carla, one of the pioneers responsible for our Preserve, stated “Solange was there to do anything asked of her to help bring the Preserve to fruition.”

Solange will bring a sharp mind to City Council. She began her career as an electrical engineer, also facilitated a product launch for a local startup company, worked in real estate sales, and provided funding for Scottsdale Community College’ 3-D Printer Lab.

Solange is a good team player, is able to look at complex issues, bring a balanced approach to challenges and find mutually beneficial solutions.

We need folks with a real love and passion for this community who are willing to roll up their sleeves and work hard for what they believe. That aptly describes Solange Whitehead. The recent attempt by the City Council to build the Desert EDGE inside our Preserve, divert $68 million critically needed Preserve tax dollars, and deny a public vote is unprecedented.

Solange helped lead the largest grassroots effort in Scottsdale’s history to collect 37,608 signatures to override the City Council and get the YES Proposition 420 on the ballot. Proposition 420 is our last chance to save our McDowell Sonoran Preserve from the bulldozers and commercial development in the Preserve.

I am supporting Solange because she is intellectually honest and has demonstrated integrity in all she has done for this community. She will be a welcome addition to Scottsdale’s City Council I strongly urge you all to vote for Solange Whitehead.
