Millennial: I don’t care where you pee

According to a new survey, the vast majority of my fellow millennials don’t care, either.

The USA Today/Rock the Vote survey found that millennials by a nearly 2-1 margin believe people should be able to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity. In other words, the overwhelming majority of young Americans reject the fear-mongering currently used as a basis to deny individuals their basic rights.

As the most diverse generation in American history, people my age grew up with “out” gay and transgender family members, friends and neighbors. We’re not afraid because we know them for what they are: people.

All of us, including gay and transgender individuals, deserve to be treated with basic dignity and respect — no matter where we pee.
