Moran: an open letter to the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board

I’m writing to inform you of my continued disappointment and concern this board shows toward the community of the Scottsdale Unified School District.

Trish Moran

As a board, you continue to hold “special meetings” at times that are almost impossible for the population of working parents or those that have children within the SUSD community to attend. The last SPC meeting was changed, you made it earlier, you made it short!

Your words, not mine.

People have schedules to keep, and ever-changing meeting times do not create a feeling of trust or loyalty. During the entire Birdwell reign we endured many hurdles. It feels as though we are jumping through more as you are walking out the door. What is the rush? What so you think your claim to fame will be? Closing schools, finding the Superintendent? All of this before you leave?

I can assure you there is no trust in this current board. I’m not alone when I speak. Let the community speak. Listen to what they say. Mistakes have been made. Push pause.

How about this, leave well enough alone! The damage that has been done needs to be cleaned up. We are picking ourselves up off, dusting ourselves off, and getting back to square one. We are putting the past behind us, moving forward to a bright new future for SUSD.

I beg you, let the new board to the heavy lifting now. These two big decisions can wait until then.
