After spending several years in Boston at Harvard University studying the latest technologies in wellness, prevention and wholistic medicine, I started a company called Vitalyze that brought together some of the top minds in the field from all over the world to collaborate on fixing the broken sickness system.

When we were looking for a place to launch our startup company, we analyzed several different options, including New York City (where we were based), San Francisco and San Diego. We were told of the innovative changes that had happened in Scottsdale, Ariz. over the past several years since the financial downturn of 2008, and that it was a very business friendly environment where a high-growth startup such as ours would be welcome and have its needs met.

Our team decided to investigate moving to Scottsdale, and we were surprised to find a vibrant, supportive community that was very business friendly and particularly strong in the health sciences and biotechnology sector.

Our company and its management all relocated to Scottsdale from all over the country, from places that include Oklahoma, Minnesota, New York, Kansas City and Sao Paul, Brazil. We now have come to call Scottsdale our home.

In total, we have brought 10 new high-tech jobs to the area within the last couple of months, and our lead investor is in the process of moving a specialized technology venture capital fund here.

The move has been an excellent choice. Our younger team, mainly technology and business professionals, have come to enjoy the culture of innovation that has developed here. They are very encouraged by the fact that many other high technology companies are located in Scottsdale, and enjoy a community of peers that supports their professional development, ambitions and goals.

Our senior staff, composed of established physicians, scientists and management have appreciated the unique combination of friendly business conditions, as well as an environment where we feel comfortable raising our families.

Scottsdale has offered us the unique opportunity where we envision fulfilling our professional and business potential for the long run. We look forward to creating value in a way that affects people all over the globe and giving back to this wonderful community.

Without the vision and policies implemented by Mayor Lane, such as the Cure Corridor Initiative and the fostering of a high-tech business hub, none of this would have been possible for us as a new high-tech business in Scottsdale.

Thank you, Mayor Lane, for the work that you have done and I look forward to your reelection that Scottsdale may continue to thrive and succeed as the best place to live and do business in the country.
