The Electoral College was put in place to check voters who put someone outrageously unqualified in the office of president. Now that Donald Trump is president-elect, it’s time for the Electoral College to do its job.
I have long been an opponent of the Electoral College, but I don’t at all mind now singing its praises. After all, isn’t that what Trump has done? First he’s against it, then he likes it, then he repeats it needs to go, and now he likes it again. After all, he’s the president-elect and if he can’t be consistent and rational, there’s hardly any argument that I should be.
I know that it’s highly unlikely the Electoral College will not seat Trump as president, but then it was highly unlikely that Trump was ever going to be elected president. We’ll probably need to suffer through what already promises to be a cartoonish Trump presidency, unless of course the Electoral College comes alive and does what it was intended to do.
Otherwise, all Hail President Trump the First, or suffer the consequences!
