Opinion: Republican fiasco means victory for Hillary

“Democrats keep White House” will be the 2016 headline.

Thanks to angry and ill-informed Tea Party Republicans, Democrat Hillary Clinton is well on her way to becoming our first woman president.

This outcome was anything but inevitable, given some of Hillary’s past missteps.  But compared to the likes of Trump, Carson, Rubio and even Jeb Bush, she shines as the only experienced and knowledgeable adult in the room, prepared to be president on day one.

Republicans need to do some real soul searching.  This is a time that America desperately needs to reduce the size and scope of government.

This is a time when all government regulations should be subject to a functionality test, and the tax code simplified and made more fair.

These issues are meat and potatoes for fiscal conservatives, and a winning message for Republicans.  But unfortunately, we are treated to the bombast of Trump, the Yoda-like musings of Carson, the inexperience of Rubio, and the unimpressive weakness that is Jeb Bush.

The result?  Republicans are already doing all they can to write the next headline:  “Democrats keep White House in 2016.”
