Shapiro: losing Henkel after years of business

As a Scottsdale area realtor for 45 years, I vividly remember when the Dial Corporation (now known as Henkel) moved to our area.

At the time, metropolitan Phoenix was much smaller.  We were anxious to have major corporations do business here and have their employees enjoy our lifestyle, weather and Western hospitality.

I attended a meeting at the Camelback Inn with other realtors, bankers, and business leaders when we learned Dial was coming.

The entire business community embraced them as their arrival set a new tone and direction for Phoenix to become a major player.

Today, I’m sad to learn of their upcoming move to Connecticut over the next year or two.

But, I want to thank them for being good corporate citizens and neighbors.  I wish them well.

I’m confident another company will take their place and step up in various leadership capacities to foster and enhance our future together.
