Odds are that up and coming culinary students in the Valley know someone connected to Fabulous Food Fine Catering and Events.
The Phoenix caterer has spent the last 20 years in the Valley investing in the potential of promising chefs, line cooks and even servers.
Through partnerships with the East Valley Institute of Technology and the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program, and supporting culinary programs at Scottsdale Community College and the Arizona Culinary Institute, Fabulous Food helps bring the industry to life for those who dream of making the perfect béchamel sauce, chocolate soufflé or cooking alongside Rick Bayless.
The company gives back through serving on culinary boards, mentoring, proving paid internships, and cooking alongside student chefs at various events.
Alan “Skip” Hause, co-owner and chef, founded Fabulous Food in 1996 with his wife Chantal to fulfill their vision of producing one-of-a-kind events with exquisite artisan cuisine.
Through their successful culinary partnership they began to appreciate the need to cultivate local talent.
By 1994 Skip had already co-authored “On Cooking: A Textbook of Culinary Fundamentals” that is used in over 300 schools nationally and internationally, but he knew the book learning was just part of the equation for a chef or cook to be successful.
They committed to being present in culinary students’ hands-on education to instill the values and work ethic required to work in the food service setting. Understanding the dedication required for success helps students test their passion. For Skip and Chantal, instilling that dedication is all in a day’s work.
