Charles Schwab Cup Championship announces military initiatives

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship has announced multiple Birdies for the Brave® military activities that will take place during the 2015 Charles Schwab Cup Championship, which will be held at The Cochise Course at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale from Nov. 2 to 8.

The Champions Tour season finale features the Top 30 players on the money list from the 2015 Charles Schwab Cup season and also decides the overall season champion.

Sponsored by Friends of the Military, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship provides complimentary grounds admission tickets to all active duty, Reserve, military retirees, non-retired veterans and their dependents from Wednesday through Sunday of tournament week.

While on the course, there are a number of complimentary activities for military members and their dependents to enjoy. Military members are invited to enjoy the tournament from the Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost presented by Friends of the Military. Located on the 18th fairway, the hospitality chalet will offer complimentary food and beverages and a relaxing view.

For one-on-one interaction with Champions Tour professionals, military members will have the opportunity on Wednesday, Nov. 4, to caddie one hole for one of the top 30 Champions Tour professionals on the signature 17th hole during the 2015 Charles Schwab Cup Championship Pro-Am.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, there will be the opportunity for military personnel to be a military pin flag attendant on the 18th green and stand proudly holding the American flag. Military Appreciation Day at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship will take place Saturday, Nov. 7, and includes a Military Appreciation Ceremony at 9:30 a.m., with military pageantry, the National Anthem, as well as placement of the American flag on the 18th green, which will be tended by uniformed military members. Collectively, the Champions Tour has the most recognizable and accomplished players in the game, with many of its 32 members in the World Golf Hall of Fame competing regularly in its events. The Tour also counts numerous other major championship winners among its members.

The Champions Tour is a membership organization of professional golfers age 50 and older. Conceived in 1980 as the Senior PGA Tour, it started with just four events and purses totaling $475,000.
