Though the Valley of the Sun JCC’s new swim program has only been in existence for eight weeks, it has already qualified and finalized two of its swimmers in the Arizona Swimming State Age Group Championships.

The qualifying trials were held in Oro Valley July 15-17, according to a press release.

Payton Mueller, age 14, made finals in both the 100-and-200-meter Breaststrokes. His sister, 12-year-old Lillian Mueller made finals in the 200-meter Butterfly.

“I am so proud of our J Swim team members, instructors and coaches,” said Debbie Meek, Valley of the Sun JCC aquatics director, in the release. “To make this milestone, qualifying swimmers at the state championships so early in the program, and seeing all the up-and-coming talent in our aquatics program, is a testament to an exciting future for J Swim.”

The J’s aquatics program offers structured progression from its J Swim Academy to its J Squad (pre-team) and J Swim Team. The program has an individualized focus for all levels and interests.
